Empowering Youth Through Experiential Learning: PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs Featured in Victoria Foundation’s Vital Signs 2025
We are thrilled to share that PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs has been featured in the Victoria Foundation’s 2025 Vital Signs Report. This year’s Learning issue celebrates innovative programs helping youth gain the skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Among these, PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs was recognized as a model of hands-on education that bridges classroom learning with real-world experience.
Through our program, students are empowered to harness their creativity, build confidence, and develop essential life skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.
By taking ownership of their ideas, solving problems, and learning from mistakes, students discover what it means to be resourceful, resilient, and capable of creating meaningful change.
The feedback from our students and educators speaks volumes about how PowerPlay continues to shape learning experiences that truly engage and inspire:
Participating students reported a 21% increase in being curious and wanting to explore new things.
Teachers give PowerPlay an A+ for connecting diverse learning styles with entrepreneurship, enhancing financial literacy, and nurturing independence.
Aligned with the BC curriculum, our strengths-based approach fosters critical thinking, autonomy, and authentic learning within an inclusive classroom environment.
“Students with diverse learning needs engaged in hands-on, experiential learning that played to their strengths,” - Anna Kato, teacher, SD61.
Student Voice: A Sense of Pride and Accomplishment
The most powerful reflection of our impact comes directly from our students, like Poppy and Cadence, featured in the Victoria Vital Signs Report, whose creativity and pride shine through as they bring their ideas to life.
A Spotlight on Our Continued Partnership with Victoria Foundation
This impact is made possible by the Victoria Foundation, our valued partner since 2022. Together, we’re able to reach more classrooms across the Capital Regional District (CRD).
Through this partnership, students gain meaningful opportunities to explore entrepreneurship, strengthen financial literacy, and build independence through hands-on, experiential learning. This collaboration also equips more educators with inclusive, ready-to-use resources that make it easier to personalize lessons, spark creativity, and celebrate every student’s potential.
Last year alone, this partnership helped us reach:
752 students
34 classrooms
“Thanks to the Victoria Foundation’s continued support, we’ve been able to expand opportunities for students to learn, lead, and grow. We’re incredibly grateful for their commitment to empowering youth through experiential learning that builds both confidence and community.”
— Bill Roche, Executive Director, PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs
Looking Ahead
We’re deeply grateful to the Victoria Foundation for their continued investment in youth empowerment through PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs. Their support ensures that students not only learn about entrepreneurship but experience it firsthand; discovering what it means to think creatively, take initiative, and make a difference in their communities.
Together, we’re building a future where every young Canadian has the confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset to shape their own path to success.
Thank you, Victoria Foundation, for helping us nurture the next generation of young innovators.
